Laptop Battery Care Tips

Almost all notebooks today use rechargeable Lithium ion (Li-Ion) batteries. Lithium Ion battery provides many benefits over earlier Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) in the era. Including lighter weight, better performance, and immune-called "memory effect".
Apart from these benefits, you can also maximize your battery life by following these tips:

1. A new battery must be charged fully before digunakan.Agar your battery longevity or can be used in a long time, please charge the battery fully before you use it. It is important to remember also, for the first 3 charge cycles, always charge the battery fully before use and completely empty before refilling again.

2. Calibrate the battery for a few months.
Almost all notebook batteries are created with an internal microprocessor, which provides an estimate of battery conditions such as how many times filled and not filled, full charge capacity and the number of times the charging cycle. This full charge capacity will become a little inaccurate after a few months and the calibration can help restore the battery performance.
Some notebooks provide measurement tools in the BIOS or Windows application. If your notebook provides one of two choices, you can follow 3 steps for measurement:

  • Connect the power center to your notebook adapter fully charging your battery.
  • When the battery is full, remove the adapter and use the notebook on battery power alone. Disable all warning options for batteries in the Power Options Properties such as Shut Down, Stand-by on Hibernation. Well, when the battery is only 3%, close all applications and let the notebook turns itself off.
  • Connect the adapter to the power center of your back and refill your battery back to full. Your battery has been drained for calibration.

3. Use the battery in decent condition
In general, a battery that can work optimally at room temperature 68 ° F (20 ° C) but at room temperature between 32 ° to 95 ° F (0-35 ° C) also will make the battery can work well too. If you use the notebook on battery power at room temperature is too hot or cold, can lower the quality. It also gives a negative effect for the lifespan of your battery.

4. Keep your battery in good condition when not in use
If you do not plan to use the notebook for a month or more, we recommend the battery be stored separately in a clean, dry and cool. Please also ensure that the battery has about 70% charge remaining. During storage the battery will perform a slow self-discharge, so we do not recommend saving it for a very long time (3 months or more), because it can affect the quality of the battery itself.
